I'm Ekin. I've been working with clay since 2019. Except for my university years studying Art History in Scotland, I’ve been living in Istanbul. I've worked in art publications and exhibitions. Around the time I realised I was too introverted for the art world, I discovered the potter's wheel and, realising I could express myself this way, I opened up my studio.
The objects I create are either pre-designed or randomly formed on the wheel. The colors come from glazes I make myself. I sometimes spend hours achieving clean lines and fluid curves in the ceramics I shape. Simplicity, elegance, and ease of use are the criteria I strive for.
My search for harmony, beauty, and utility in my daily life guides my practice as well. I'm a homebody. I'm very confident about my guest hosting skills. In fact, my dog Güneş and I treat ourselves like guests every day. I create ceramics with the belief that the pots and cups we use at home are as important as the recipes we make, and with the dream of having beautiful and functional objects that are within easy reach and part of our routines. Wishing you the same joy in your life.
