My name is Ekin. I've been working with ceramics since 2019. Except for the years I studied Art History at university in Scotland, I've spent my life in Istanbul. I've worked on art publications and exhibitions. Around the time I realized I was too introverted for the art world, I discovered the potter's wheel and subsequently established my studio.
My designs are either pre-planned or spontaneously created on the potter's wheel. The colors come from glazes I make myself. I sometimes spend hours achieving clean lines and fluid curves in the ceramics I shape. Simplicity, elegance, and ease of use are the criteria I strive for.
My pursuit of harmony, beauty, and utility guides my practice. I am a very home-loving person. I am quite skilled at the art of hosting guests. In fact, my dog Güneş and I live as if we are hosting guests every day. I create ceramics with the belief that the food and drink utensils I use at home are as important as the food I cook, and with the dream of making everyday objects, which are part of our routines, beautiful and functional. I hope it brings joy to your life too.
